Mike King and Jim Godwin were here asking permission to use the dump
truck, tractor, etc. the weekend before Labor Day and Labor Day weekend
for the festivities at Lion's park. Council agreed to allow Jim Godwin,
Mike King, Phil Stoner and Jim Hickman use the equipment when needed.
Mayor Hostetler recommended calling Alan Hale about getting recycling
containers to cut down on the trash accumulated that weekend. He
informed Council, Mick Lile put containers at the
park last year and
wasn't sure if he was going to do that this year. He will find out
and
contact Mr. Hale.
Joseph West was here to ask more questions about the sidewalk criteria.
Solicitor Moell was not here to answer questions. Mr.
West gave Mayor
Hostetler more information about sidewalk repair within the Village. Mr.
West asked if we had a shade tree commission.
Mr. Legge was here with recommendations for
removing/not removing sidewalk.
Ronnenberg at 237 E. Newell can remove his sidewalk
on Liberty St.
Levy 211 Zanesfield Rd. can not remove her sidewalk.
Ballard 209 Zanesfield Rd. can not remove her
sidewalk
King 412 E. Columbus can not remove her sidewalk
Allen 206 Runkle St. can not remove his sidewalk but
it does not have to
be 4 ft. wide.
Smoot 305 E. Baird needs to replace his sidewalk not just repair.
Ms. Ballard on
driveway and thinks it needs a catch basin. Mr. Legge
will check on
this.
Mr. Dan Park 313 Washington St. is also concerned with the water erosion.
Mr. Legge is look at this.
Tina Thompson at 211 E. Newell asked if her alley was an alley at the
last meeting. Mayor Hostetler asked Zoning Officer and he said it was an
alley.
Chief Murray is working on the property on E. Newell to clean up his
property.
Mr. Hostetler and Clerk Boyd have talked to Jeff Pelc
of Ohio Division of
Wildlife about the bird problem. The distressed bird call boxes, spot
lights, etc. are not working anymore. Clerk invited him to the next
Council meeting on August 27th to give us more options to getting rid of
the birds.
The Council is inviting residents to attend to find out more, please call
the Clerk's office in advance 465-2716.
Mr. Lance was asked if there were sidewalk grants. Clerk Boyd will ask
Mr. Legge to find out.
Mr. Lance was also asked about an Ordinance on Jake Brakes. A petition
may be passed to get this into effect.
Mr. Lance was also asked if the Clerk's office can stagger lunch hour so
no one will be missed to come in to pay their water bill. The lunch hour
is
Mr. Hostetler is concerned with the safety of the walkway on
St.
The street department wants reflective shirts instead of wearing vests.
Council bought the vests and in the winter they can be worn over top of
their coats. Council is concerned that the vests are not being worn and
we need to enforce the policy.
Clerk Boyd is having a safety meeting at August 28th at
Kevin Spellman of BWC all supervisor, safety committee and Mayor will be
attending. Clerk will ask a Cemetery trustee.
Mayor Hostetler and the Clerk attended the Governor's picnic and were
impressed on how
Mayor Hostetler signed a Proclamation for Constitution week September
17th thru 23rd.
Mayor Hostetler will be in the dunking booth for the pigskin parents at
Clerk Boyd will be posting the approved minutes on the westliberty.com
website starting this month.

Chief Murray had his gun inspected by Tom Meek and it is not accurate.
Chief would like to remember Thomas Woodruff and take the pin out display
it in a shadow box with a badge at the police department. He will
contact Connie Woodruff and ask.
A MOTION was made by Mr. Hyland seconded by Mrs. Coy to approve Chief
Murray to purchase a weapon in the amount of $750.00 or less. Motion
Carried.
Chief Murray has had a complaint of the Shooting range and safety issues.
Chief Murray has had several inspectors come and informed Council there
is not a safety issue. He will get this in writing and send a letter to
this person.
Auxiliary, Gary Clay will be getting a neighborhood watch program started
after Labor Day.
The exercise room is in need of a treadmill,
Police Department use this room regularly. Chief

Clerk Boyd informed Council General Fund transferred $15,000.00 to the
SCMR as appropriated.
